DOCENT TRAINING
If you enjoy learning about Pasadena history and architecture and sharing that knowledge with others – Pasadena Heritage needs you! Join us for our 2015 docent training classes and you can give much needed support by volunteering to lead tours throughout the year. We are looking for out-going people who will proudly represent Pasadena Heritage. Docent training will focus on Pasadena’s early history, Pasadena Heritage’s role in the community, the architectural development of Pasadena, and general docent guidelines and strategies. Training will include power-point demonstrations, discussions with experienced docents, walking tours of Old Pasadena and other historic neighborhoods. Whether you are interested in being a docent for walking tours, bus tours or house tours, this training will be extremely beneficial.
The first training dates will be Saturday, January 24th from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, February 24th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Future dates will be discussed at these meetings. Please contact Patty Judy, Education Director if you are interested in joining the docent class of 2015. pjudy@pasadenaheritage.org or 626-441-6333 x 18.
Volunteer Experiences
“I am a 4th generation native and 6th generation to have lived in Pasadena. While growing up, I heard many stories of what my ancestors had done in early years of Pasadena. Given that, I was absolutely delighted to learn things about my own family while preparing to lead various tours that I had not heard previously from any of my parents or grandparents. That learning experience has made my docenting experience much more valuable to me personally”
– John Morris, Pasadena Heritage Volunteer (4 Years)
